Million-Dollar Second Acts

A few lucky entrepreneurs leaving secure executive jobs behind to start businesses that break the $1 million threshold

By Jeffrey Gangemi

Ren Moulton, 36

From creative tech marketer to CEO and consumer tech product designer & developer

After a decade directing digital media creative at firms such as the renowned Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Ren Moulton says he left a "fairly cushy job going from creating to managing a department to go back to grad school to focus on an MA in product design and engineering and an MBA in consumer marketing". His rationale? He always got more excited by his tech clients' potential new product development rather than marketing their established products. Today he runs DGMT products, a product development firm with a robotic interreactive pet toy and prosumer tool brand, "Frolick", with a 300% annual growth rate and $10 Million in 2010 sales.

As Greece Goes South So Goes the EU

As Greece grapples with mounting economic pressures, political instability, and a brain drain crisis, its trajectory is beginning to mirror deeper cracks within the European Union. What was once seen as a localized struggle is increasingly viewed as a warning sign for the broader EU project, especially in how the bloc handles inequality, migration, and national sovereignty.

Liberal Culture Of European Politics

Across Europe, progressive values have paved the way for inclusive policies, greater civil liberties, and strong protections for minority rights. This influence is evident in debates around social welfare, environmental responsibility, and the expansion of democratic participation, reflecting a commitment to both individual freedom and collective well-being.
